How I Paid For College
The novel How I Paid For College: A Novel of Sex, Theft, Friendship & Musical Theatre by Marc Acito is wonderful for anyone out there who has ever been a "play person". This book is about a kid who is desperate to find a way to pay for Julliard after his wicked step-mother and father cut him off. Ed, the protagonist, and his friends, a group of high schoolers who are already eccentric at age 17, set off on geographic adventures through Hoboken, New Jersey and New York City as well as personal adventures in sex and sexuality. Overall, a good laugh as people are constantly mistaking Ed as a waiter, his friend is dressing up as a nun to get them beer, the kids are singing at a piano bar with their English teacher and a stolen Buddah is mysteriously showing up in odd places.
