Sellevision

Sellevision, Augusten Burroughs' only fiction book (and first book) centers the action at a QVC type network named Sellevision and begins with a scandal. During a program targeted towards families, a host accidentally flashes the camera, the ensuing scandal and his firing is only a small part of the novel. All of the Sellevision hosts and producers, as well as some of their families, are chronicled. Most of them are lying, cheating, drinking, drugging, snooping and plotting and it makes for a cute book that's an easy read. Burroughs does a good job with fiction and adds a lot of details that one who is familiar with his work might think are modeled after his own life. The stories are unbelievable at times but Burroughs' wit is there and overall this book is fun and entertaining.
